You know what? It's campaign season. I've got better things to rant about than the implications of inter-denominational differences. My basic point isn't even...coherent, really. It was just an excuse for me to do some research. I can do that on my own, though. I know what I believe, and I have a scriptural basis for it. That's all that matters to me.
I'm still on my whole "disillusionment with rich Christians" thing, though...anybody ever heard of a writer named Ronald Slider? I've got a book he wrote on the Christian's responsibility to care for, basically, the "widows and orphans" of the world. I might post some ideas here, but I'll ask a simple question for now.
Sum up in a phrase or two your opinion about the Christian "responsibility" to care for those who suffer from hunger, poverty, and general want.

Interesting intro. Not much to add at this point, because I'm curious to see what direction we're going. But I'll be a part of the conversation.

Ooooooouuuuch.
Scripturally we do have responsibility for taking care of people... "good samaritan" etc... many other verses.
Aside from those who "can not take care of themselves" like in the good sam. There is a precedent though for providing for those who are less fortunate. Not with just "hand-outs", but for those who are poor to actually do "gleaning" or work for their sustenance, and for us to "leave behind" those gleanings for them to gather.
